Sustainable Tourism in Fragile Environments Workshop

The course combines theoretical lessons and field activities held and coordinated by Italian researchers. Classes will be held at the MaRHE Center (Marine Research and High Education Center) in Magoodhoo, Faafu Atoll, Republic of the Maldives. Field activities and experiences include the analysis of the local social and ecological systems; site-inspections of resort islands; and meetings with representatives of the local population.

Luxury tourism and the management of luxury resorts are key-topics of the workshop. The activities will focus on the strategies able to combine this target with sustainable practices and local development.

The course gives participants the chance to test their knowledge and skills by studying a tourist model directly on field. Furthermore, the workshop may be considered as a professional training for those wishing to address a work in the field of tourism plan, Environmental Impact Assessment and marketing.
